DENVER – The University of Colorado and the University of Colorado Foundation announced today that donors have contributed more than $162.5 million for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2008, the most in the university’s 132-year history. The CU Foundation brought in more than $123.5 million of the record-breaking total. This marks the second straight year CU has set a record for funds contributed, and eclipses the $133.5 million in donations contributed to the university last fiscal year."

A record amount of cash was donated by visitors to this year's Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival - even though the ratio of people paying up was lower than in 2007.

Delighted show organisers yesterday revealed that at least £80,245 was thrown into donation buckets along the seafront during last week's highly successful two-day event.

The figure eclipses the £59,206 made last year, but only 260,000 people attended that event compared with 445,000 during last week's glorious summer weather."

Employees began shunning United Way-led campaigns in the early 1990s, said Mark Shamley of The Association of Corporate Contributions Professionals.

One nonprofit expert said it was routine for 80 percent of workers to participate in a drive in the early 1990s. Today, about 40 percent participate, according to the United Way of America."
