Hospital CEO pay: High but justified? - Fosters: "Overall, her compensation package is less than the average total paid to the lead administrator of each of roughly 500 hospitals nationwide. The hospitals' compensation practices were examined in an IRS study that began in 2006.

The study found CEO compensation rose with hospital revenue and noted that while salaries 'may appear high to some, nearly all' of the 500 institutions reviewed adhered to IRS standards designed to ensure CEO pay is reasonable at nonprofit hospitals."
