Spring gala scene sets records for fundraising - In Other News - Crain's Chicago Business: "What's happening in Chicago is happening across the country, said Michael Nilsen, vice president of public affairs at the Arlington, Va.-based Association of Fundraising Professionals, which keeps track of such information.

“The economy is doing better and we're definitely seeing growth in giving. You're seeing more giving from wealthier and middle-class donors, and I think that speaks to the success of some of these high-scale black-tie fundraisers,” he said, pointing to the New York-based Robinhood Foundation, which raised a record-breaking $101 million."
