Now that Nancy Brinker is stepping down as chief executive of the charity she founded, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, her critics are agitating for her to quit the charity’s board.
She doesn’t want to go, and the charity’s policy of letting some people serve as lifetime board members means she is not required to. That could pose a big challenge in the next few months as Komen conducts its highest-profile fundraising races.

Asian-Americans and Philanthropic Giving: Implications for Higher Education: Asian-Americans are the second fastest growing minority population in the United States after Latinos. Between 2000 and 2012, they grew at a rate of 49 percent. Although there is much diversity among Asian-Americans, there are some commonalities that cut across many of the sub-groups as well. First, among Asian-Americans, philanthropic giving is based on the value of compassion that is inherent in most Asian cultures. In addition, giving to family and the idea of reciprocity in gift giving is essential to understanding Asian philanthropy. Like many other cultures in the United States, religion plays a significant role in providing a foundation for philanthropic giving among Asian-Americans.

The entertainer sold his special 2012 Prima Edizione Fiat 500, the second one imported to the U.S. by Chrysler, for ten times the asking price at a charity auction on Saturday night. The auction house listed the car at $35,000 but since it was for charity the final offer was ten times the asking price.
