Donations to mid-Missouri charities above national average in 2010 - Columbia Missourian: "COLUMBIA — Key nonprofit organizations in mid-Missouri have bucked national trends recently in charitable donations.

Nationally, charitable donations declined in 2008 and 2009, then rose an estimated 3.8 percent across the board in 2010, according to the recently released Giving USA report. Locally, however, many nonprofits brought in percentage increases higher than the national average."

Nonprofits continue boom in face of new pressures - STLtoday.com: "In Missouri, the number of new nonprofit corporations founded annually has risen steadily this decade, from 1,233 in 2000 to 2,257 in 2007. In 2008, the number exploded to 3,082, almost a 37 percent increase in a single year. In all, the state has more than 52,400 registered nonprofits.

In Illinois, nonprofit incorporations have increased almost every year since at least 1970, though they fell this year. There are almost 85,400 nonprofits in the state."

STLtoday - Area nonprofits got millions from A-B: "St. Louis — Nonprofits, which rely heavily on Anheuser-Busch's history of giving, are now moving from the 'what if' to 'what now' question with the InBev buyout now official.

'People are properly cautious,' said Bob Davidson, a spokesman for Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center. 'We are the Show-me State, after all. Hopefully, what we'll be shown by InBev is that they'll affirm they are a company that wants to maintain the philanthropic support that Anheuser-Busch has given throughout the years.'"
