I caught the marathon bug a few years ago, running my first one in Toronto in 2012 and then Chicago the following year. After running Chicago, I decided that I wanted to complete another major marathon and was determined to run New York."

Red Nose Day will be shown in the US for the first time next year

Red Nose Day will be shown in the US for the first time next year: The British fundraising institution Red Nose Day is being exported to America for a three-hour show in May next year.

The television fundraising event will be shown on the US network NBC, which is working in collaboration with Comic Relief to bring the show to the States for the first time.

Red Nose Day raised �100.2m in 2013 and has been running in the UK for 25 years.

Charity events buck tradition to draw young crowds - The Denver Post: Many of the benefits grabbing the buzz — and the bodies — these days are those planned by the young professionals who come to the table with fresh ideas and no fear of taking chances with themes and locations that never would have flown in their mothers' day.

Formats that were popular a decade ago — cocktail hour/silent auction, seated dinner, speaker, live auction and dancing — haven't vanished and certainly still have their place. But just as the new group of planners calls event settings "venues" rather than "locales" and refers to caterers, florists and musicians as "vendors," they're rethinking the approach to raising money.
