UK's first Giving Tuesday sees sharp rise in online donations: "Charities across the country reported a sharp rise in online donations for Giving Tuesday, figures have revealed.

Software provider Blackbaud said donations through its services in the UK went up by 270 per cent compared to the first Tuesday of December last year.

JustGiving said total donations were up 46 per cent compared to the same day last year and text donations were up by 80 per cent.

Visa Europe said that more than £2,500 was donated every minute on Visa cards in the UK and donations were up by 10 per cent on last year.

MCF | Charitable Giving in Minnesota Increases: "The Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF) today released its Giving in Minnesota, 2014 Edition research, the most comprehensive analysis of charitable giving in the state.
The research shows that individuals, foundations and corporations gave $5.7 billion in 2012, a 2-percent increase in total giving over 2011.
Individual giving went up to $4.1 billion in 2012, while grantmaking by foundations and corporations in Minnesota declined by 6 percent to $1.6 billion."

Analysts: 'Giving Tuesday' Raised $46M for Charity - ABC News

Nonprofit experts say the national drive known as "Giving Tuesday" is
having a growing impact, with nearly $46 million raised for charitable
groups this week.

Keeps Professor With Criminal Past – Philanthropy Today - Blogs - The Chronicle of Philanthropy: "A donor to the University of Illinois at Chicago has threatened to withhold most of a $6.5-million contribution if academic units at the university’s Urbana-Champaign branch follow through on plans to rehire a professor who lost his job after a criminal conviction came to light, according to the Chicago Tribune. Retired tech executive Richard Hill made the pledge to the bioengineering department of the Chicago campus last year and has given about $2-million so far but said he would pay no more if James Kilgore returns to the system’s faculty."

The Blackbaud Index today reported that overall charitable giving to nonprofits increased 0.2% and online giving increased 10.6% for the three months ending October 2014 as compared to the same period in 2013.
