Millennials Give The Least, Want Money Used Wisely - The NonProfit TimesThe NonProfit Times: "You might want to put down the phone, or delay that mailing by a month or two. Nonprofits are 10 times more likely than donors to think the organization is not communicating enough with donors. For its first donor engagement study, Austin, Texas-based fundraising and software firm Abila surveyed more than 1,200 donors across four generational cohorts, as well as managers at 206 nonprofits with revenues ranging from $1 million to $49 million."

For Millennials this reality has created a new call to serve nonprofit organizations. It's a call to be a risk-taker in a time when others think risk should be avoided because of economic or other uncertainties. It's a call to lead a team while others seek to maintain operations at the status quo. It's a call to change the work environment not because someone's boss or board has told them to do so, but because their gut says that change is necessary and needs to happen now.

Professional Fundraising | Age no barrier to giving, finds research from Indiana University: "While many fundraisers have been concentrating on how to capture the hearts and wallets of the baby boomer generation, a new US study suggests the not-for-profit sector may be missing out on other opportunities after finding little difference in propensity towards philanthropy between the generations.

Research conducted by Indiana University’s Centre for Philanthropy for the US consultancy, Campbell & Company, has discovered that the Millennials – those born since 1981 – and Generation X – those born between 1964 and 1980 – are an underestimated and untapped resource."
