Nonprofit Crowdfunds Homes For People In Need, Gives Donors Updates On Families They've Helped

Nonprofit Crowdfunds Homes For People In Need, Gives Donors Updates On Families They've Helped: "For donors who want to know exactly how their money’s being spent, there’s a new transparent nonprofit that allows its supporters to rest easy.

New Story, an Atlanta-based group, identifies families in need, shares their struggles via moving video stories and then solicits donations from supporters. But what distinguishes this initiative from other similar-sounding ones is that every dollar goes right to the profiled family and donors are kept abreast of the developments every step of the way."

The Power Of Non-Cash Gifts - The NonProfit Times

The Power Of Non-Cash Gifts - The NonProfit TimesThe NonProfit Times: "Survey after survey shows that donors rarely cite tax advantages as their most important reason for giving. That is good. It means your donors give because they care about your mission.

It is still in the best interests of your donor to maximize the tax benefit of their gifts whenever possible. Likewise, it is in the best interests of the nonprofit and donors for staff to help donors develop strategies to do so."

Millennials And The Power Of Influence

Millennials And The Power Of Influence: "While many acknowledge they don’t really “get” this generation – our years of work at the Case Foundation, researching, engaging and convening this generation, has placed me squarely (and proudly) in the role of Millennial optimist and enthusiast.

Yes, it is true that all young people – including those from generations past – tend to be idealistic.  "

Donation Dos and Don'ts | Amy L. Freeman

Donation Dos and Don'ts | Amy L. Freeman: "I think that giving would be more effective if we nonprofits were clearer about not just what we need, but also what we don't need. Well-meaning donors tend to err on the side of excess: "Well, maybe they can use it." The nonprofit, not wanting to offend, tends to simply accept what people bring to them. If we nonprofits urged a bit more triage on the donor end, I suspect that, rather than being offended, donors would be happy to eliminate that "maybe." Staff would have less work sorting items, and clients would get only items they will use.

So here are my everyone-wins donation dos and don'ts:"

The AFP Blog: Giving USA 2015: Record Giving and Growth, But Still Stuck at Two Percent GDP: "Giving USA 2015: Record Giving and Growth, But Still Stuck at Two Percent GDP

Amazing figures, and the data aligns with what we saw with the Nonprofit Research Collaborative’s (NRC) 2014 Year-End Fundraising Survey: strong growth in fundraising across the board with fundraising success levels at what we saw before the recession."

How your donors literally think about legacy - The NonProfit TimesThe NonProfit Times: "How your donors literally think about legacy
by The NonProfit Times - June 23, 2015
Medical technology can track what your donors think about legacy giving. A conversation about planned giving makes prospects look back on their lives, think about their legacy and it’s all trackable.

According to Bill Tedesco, CEO and managing partner of DonorSearch in Marriottsville, Md., speaking during last fall’s National Catholic Development Conference (NCDC) conference in Chicago, it’s all about the science of giving."

Answer The Question, Win Valuable Grants - The NonProfit TimesThe NonProfit Times: "Winning a grant is a lot like the SATs, you get points for simply getting your name correct. About 60 percent of winning a grant is answering the questions on the application and telling the grantmakers what they want to know.

The other 40 percent is how you answer those questions, said John W. Hicks, president and CEO of consulting firm j.c. geever in New York City. Hicks presented “The 40 Percent Solution” to attendees of Fundraising Day in New York 2015, organized by the New York City chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals."
