Daily Herald | Salvation Army offering kettle sponsorships: "In anticipation of another tough year - with more people needing help and fewer able to contribute - Jay Davis at the Christian charity's Des Plaines office is making an early request for more volunteers to man the red kettles where passers-by drop coins and other donations.

Other area Salvation Army offices are also looking early for volunteers and even companies to sponsor kettles."

Unlike Formula One drivers and tennis players, skiers belong to a non-profit organization, the International Ski Federation (FIS), which limits their sponsorships opportunities, often centered on sportsgear."

The organizer of the Great Balloon Race is Greg Saul, who says the event has lost $8,500 in sponsorship over the past two years. That is essentially half its budget."
