MCF | Charitable Giving in Minnesota Increases: "The Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF) today released its Giving in Minnesota, 2014 Edition research, the most comprehensive analysis of charitable giving in the state.
The research shows that individuals, foundations and corporations gave $5.7 billion in 2012, a 2-percent increase in total giving over 2011.
Individual giving went up to $4.1 billion in 2012, while grantmaking by foundations and corporations in Minnesota declined by 6 percent to $1.6 billion."

(Oct. 10, 2011) ― The Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF) today released its Giving in Minnesota, 2011 Edition research report, the most comprehensive analysis of charitable giving in the state. The report shows giving by individuals, foundations and corporate giving programs totaled $4.9 billion for the 2009 research year, a decrease of 9.3 percent from 2008.

(August 29, 2011) – Education received the largest share of Minnesota’s philanthropic giving in 2009 – about 26 percent – according to new research by the Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF). Education was one of only two subject areas for which funding didn’t decline in 2009, the most recent time period for which complete data are available.

In examining foundations and corporate giving programs with fiscal years ending between June 1, 2007, and May 31, 2008 - the most recent time period for which complete data are available - MCF analyzed the state's charitable giving for the months leading up to and during the very earliest part of the recession.

The report shows giving by individuals, foundations and corporate giving programs totaled $5.5 billion for the 2007 research year, an increase of 2.2 percent from 2006. While giving by individuals remained steady with 2006 levels at $4.19 billion, foundations and corporate giving programs increased giving by 10.1 percent to $1.32 billion"
