The NonProfit Times - NPT Study: Creative Ways of Luring Conference-Goers
The NonProfit Times - The Leading Business Publication For Nonprofit Management: "NPT Study: Creative Ways of Luring Conference-Goers
By Michele Donohue
Carol Lewis, CEO of Philanthropy Northwest, said she worried people wouldn’t be able to afford the organization’s annual conference next month. So, the Seattle-based organization decided to tweak the conference to make it more financially accessible.
The organization kept prices at last year’s levels and moved it to a less expensive venue. It was originally scheduled for Alaska. But with the high cost of airfare, Philanthropy Northwest moved the conference to Stevenson, Wash., just outside of Portland, Ore."

(Jan. 12, 2009) As part of AFP’s International Conference on Fundraising you can spend time volunteering to aid restoration efforts of communities devastated in the 2005 Gulf Coast hurricanes.
There are several opportunities for conference participants to donate time, energy and support to help people rebuild their communities. There is also a tour available for you to visit areas of the city that have been restored thanks to volunteer efforts.
The AFP Day of Service, as well as a workshop event by The Center for Black Philanthropy, will take place Saturday, March 28. The New Orleans Philanthropy Tour happens that day as well. There is also a special fund that has been set up by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy that will give AFP membership to deserving New Orleans fundraisers."

Philanthropic tests of our time
Good intentions never fed anyone, provided a mosquito net, brought water to a village or fought a disease. Doing good in the world is a purposeful enterprise requiring skills, leadership and lots of money.
All will be celebrated and nurtured as the Council on Foundations holds its 58th annual conference today through Tuesday at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. The event is co-sponsored by Philanthropy Northwest. Seattle is proud to welcome more than 2,000 representatives from philanthropic organizations around the world, the people who raise and distribute billions of dollars."
