Volunteering is vital for these organizations to operate, said Rick Skinner, vice president of the United Way of Greater St. Louis Volunteer Center. These groups always need people with some spare time to help with their programs.
'It's the core value of the United Way and integral to nonprofits,' Skinner said. 'Volunteers provide helping hands and help supplement these programs. It's vital, both for the short term and the long term.'"
