Charity - Islip and Brookhaven Laws Seek to Counter Clothing-Bin Fraud - NYTimes.com: "DONORS may think that all of those unwanted garments they drop off in roadside collection bins are going to charities. But local and county officials say an increasing number of for-profit companies, some claiming to be charities, are collecting donated clothes to sell. That has prompted new laws in the Towns of Islip and Brookhaven and proposed legislation in Suffolk County to ensure that donated clothing goes to legitimate charities or that donors know where it is going."
