Donations for the victims of the snowstorm that hit China last week reached more than 30 million patacas yesterday, with locals gathering to help the millions of Mainlanders left without much-needed everyday supplies and resources.
Around 17 provinces in the Mainland have experienced blackouts, affecting some 60 million people and more than five million have had their water supply reduced or cut off, making this the biggest snowstorm in the Mainland in 50 years.
The central government has mobilised more than 150,000 soldiers from the China's People's Liberation Army, around 300,000 paramilitary members and around one million police to join the relief effort."
