Visalia Salvation Army representatives reported serving more than 700 families, a record, for this month's holiday distribution of toys, food and clothing.
'We are seeing more men in line [for assistance], where before it was mostly women,' Capt. Ezekiel Guevara said. 'Many said they were laid off, and that was a sad thing for me to see.'"
