New philanthropy group bucks downturn: "Impact Giving is the latest addition to the growing trend of collective giving groups. The Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers identified over 400 such groups but believes there may be as many as 2,000 organizations that pool their donations for the benefit of their chosen charities. While a typical giving group limits its sphere of support to local charities, Impact Giving has opened its doors to global as well as local causes."
