NPT Instant Fundraising: "Holding Consultants Accountable Saves Donor's Money
Nonprofits often hire consultants to help create an image and those spin masters are skilled in specific ways. But, there also is an old joke that bad consultants borrow your watch, tell you the time and then charge you for the information. So, how does an organization spend wisely on the good consultants?"

While some may consider a consultant manipulative or dishonest for providing information that his or her client already has, my experience lends a much better understanding of the consultants role. Unfortunately, despite having the information right in front of them, many organizations will deny or refuse to look at their own information. As the saying goes, they refuse to look at their own watch. The consultant objectively points out many of the realities that organizations neglect to consider.
