Food prices haven't dented pantry donations - Maynard, MA - The Beacon-Villager: "In spite of all that, the local food pantries are finding that, even in expensive times, people want to be charitable. Over the weekend of May 10, postal workers were busy hauling close to 10,000 pounds of donated food to the Maynard Pantry.
“When times get difficult, the people that can continue to give but they chose to give more locally,” said food pantry volunteer Mary Brannelly.
During a pledge drive in March and April, where all donations would be match in kind by a philanthropist from Rhode Island, the pantry received double the donations it did last year, said Brannelly."
