Kelly: UNMC to shine light on donors - Omaha.com: Omaha philanthropist Bill Scott has never been one to blow his own horn, but he and wife Ruth love trumpeting the benefits of the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
So it's appropriate that Bill agreed to play his trumpet at the midday dedication of the medical center's student plaza — which provides the midtown Omaha campus an infusion of much-needed green space.
He put together an eight-member ad hoc band of UNMC faculty, staff and students called Scotty and the Grateful Meds. That takeoff on the Grateful Dead rock band was selected after considering the Med Heads, the Med Zeppelins and other playful names.
