United Way donations are highest in 9 years - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Despite a down economy, the United Way of Allegheny County raised $32.3 million last year -- its highest total in nine years.
That figure was bolstered by significant increases in large donations, including a 20 percent increase last year in women giving more than $1,000.
