Stimulus offers funds with strings attached to nonprofits - Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal:: "At a time when nonprofits are watching their funding dry to desperation levels, stimulus money is proving a coveted but elusive — and often frustrating — short-term solution.
Among the challenges are the amount of money available, the multiple pots various nonprofits might tap for funds, and the administration by multiple agencies. Not every nonprofit category is even eligible. Deadlines and payout times are staggered. The turnaround from receipt to spending is fast. Some money is allocated through the federal government as competitive grants, while other funds are distributed through the state and counties."
