Charity's raffle winner to take home $1.3 million: "Ads touting the raffle had said the prize would be $1.6 million in cash or a five-bedroom house valued at $1.9 million, but not enough tickets were sold to make the house an option, said Kim Lande, a spokeswoman for the charity.
In its marketing materials, the charity was careful to explain that at least 30,500 of the 35,000 available tickets had to be sold before the home could be offered. Only 28,500 tickets were sold, which also lowered the amount of the cash prize.
Despite the tough economy, Ronald McDonald House Charities sold 5,000 more tickets than it did last year."
