Nonprofit chamber: Organizations in Palm Beach County pulling scarce resources - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Nonprofit chamber: Organizations in Palm Beach County pulling scarce resources - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com: Nonprofits in Palm Beach County are banding together like a chamber of commerce, but without the commerce.

Instead of working together to grow their collective profits, they'll work together to stay alive and keep up their levels of service as funding slows and demand grows.

"Resources are more scarce, and in the not-for-profit world, needs are greater," said Diana Stanley, CEO of The Lord's Place, an organization that helps the homeless. She's the chair of the new Chamber of Nonprofit Health and Human Service Agencies in Palm Beach County.

As a member of the Nonprofit Chamber and as such, have found the Chamber a great place to discuss problems, find solutions, learn about other CEO's and thier organizations, and a place that allows open comment and frank discussion. I encourage all Nonprofits to think about creating or joining a Nonprofit Chamber. The process has not been easy, funders have been intimidated by the banding together of nonprofits, and an all volunter organization( until recently) requires dedication and committment, but the end result is well worth the equity put into the process.
