Super Bowl 50 Hosts Reinvent Philanthropic Vision For NFL - Forbes

Super Bowl 50 Hosts Reinvent Philanthropic Vision For NFL - Forbes: "The 50 Fund kicked off its giving 50 weeks before the Super Bowl, awarding $500,ooo grants to five “Game Changers” out of an applicant pool of 147, including First Place for Youth and other organizations which aim to close the opportunity gap for youth in low-income communities. Lurie has high praise for the 50 Fund board — chaired by Kamba Tshionyi of JP Morgan — as well as the advisory group which helped winnow the vast field of potential grantees.

Once a week for the 50 weeks leading up to the game, the 50 Fund has awarded a $10,000 grant to a community-based “Playmaker” organization. And recently, thanks to well-received fundraising efforts, the 50 Fund was able to extend its Game Changer initiative and award nine additional $200,000 grants focusing on community-building and the environment. To date, the 50 Fund has given out dozens of awards across 12 Northern California counties."
