Bloomberg.com: U.S.: "U.S. Commerce Chamber Spent Record $53 Mln on Lobbying in 2004
Feb. 14 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent $53 million to lobby Congress and the White House in 2004, a record for any organization, to push an agenda that includes making permanent the tax cuts that were enacted since 2001 and limiting class-action lawsuits.
The Washington-based trade group and its affiliated Institute for Legal Reform spent 54 percent more on lobbying last year than the $34.6 million it spent in 2003, according to disclosure records compiled by PoliticalMoneyLine, a nonpartisan group that tracks money in politics. The chamber broke its own record set in 2002, when it spent $41.6 million. "
