Black families earn less, give more: "Black families earn less, give more

In recent years, income among black households has risen by an average of just under 2.5 percent annually, not as fast as for other Americans. But black charitable giving per household has risen nearly 50 percent faster than income.
The figures, adjusted for inflation, show that the nation's 13 million black households remain less married, far less wealthy and working mostly at lower-paying jobs than the nation as a whole. But an upsurge in income, wealth and middle-class status among young black families has fueled the increased giving, according to a Boston College study."
