Rooney, director of research at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. “I think what we’re seeing is philanthropy growing in a steadier, more linear way, when everyone has been hoping for a pattern more like the roaring 1990s.”
The Giving USA Foundation, which produces an annual report on giving together with the center, attributed the lackluster growth in giving to the absence of major disasters."
