Music to their ears | StarNewsOnline.com | Star-News | Wilmington, NC: "When they were done, DePaolo, as Fisher tells it, said something that leveled him. 'She says, 'Well, before we depart, we'd like to offer this building to you and Sylvia to have your name on it,'' he said in a recent interview. 'And then, she mentioned The Varsity.' The Varsity was Herb Fisher's first business, a Princess Street drug store and soda fountain that served as the make-do student union for nearby New Hanover High School and Wilmington College in the 1950s and '60s. Those fond days would be preserved forever with the dedication of the new building."
