Frito-Lay Official Responds
Ed Lorenz, Manufacturing ManagerTo the editor:As Clinton County’s largest employer, taxpayer and source of charitable giving, we at Frito-Lay were dismayed by Managing Editor Jim Bush’s column criticizing the integrity of our company and its long and positive history in the Frankfort community. Most of all, we are disappointed by Mr. Bush’s contention that somehow Frito-Lay is not a community-oriented company. I can assure you that our employees have a deep and abiding commitment to Frankfort and Clinton County. And as our company has grown, the contributions of our family of employees to the local community have grown as well.Let’s touch on just a few facts:— Each year, employee contributions to the local United Way — matched by Frito-Lay and PepsiCo — generate between $120,000 and $200,000 for local community and charitable programs. This amount is roughly 35 percent of the total amount raised by the local United Way in all of Clinton County.
