LANSING - The nonprofit sector, rocked by news reports of unscrupulous charities and subsequent investigations by the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, is gearing up to fend off potential new regulations.
Michigan nonprofit leaders were exhorted to assure their representatives in Congress that allowing such organizations to police themselves is better than loading them up with new rules and paperwork.
