NOVEMBER 18, 2004 -- Washington -- The median compensation of association meeting managers declined $3,762 over the past two years, a 5.8-percent drop, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) reported yesterday.
The median compensation for an association executive who primarily plans meetings and exhibitions is $61,438 this year, down from $65,200 in 2002, according to ASAE's Association Executive Compensation & Benefits Study.
Total compensation includes salary, bonuses, and the association's contribution to the employee's 401K retirement program.
When broken out between individual membership and trade associations, median compensation increased 12.7 percent for meeting managers who work at individual membership associations but decreased 19.3 percent for those employed by trade associations."
