Charities fear vehicle donations may stall - Saturday, 10/16/04: "Proposed law change means people giving cars to charities no longer can report Blue Book value or own estimate on taxes.
Generosity will pay a little less under the American Jobs Creation Act passed by the Senate and House recently and awaiting the president's signature.
People who donate vehicles worth more than $500 to charity will have to report the sales price the charity received on their federal taxes rather than using the Blue Book value or the taxpayer's own estimate of how much a vehicle is worth.
