A COMPROMISE is being proposed to stop some of Edinburgh�s best-known institutions losing millions of pounds because of charity reforms.

Bodies like the National Museums of Scotland and the Royal Botanic Garden have warned major development projects are at risk because a new law threatens to strip them of their charitable status.

And they say unless they can remain as charities they will lose out on rates relief, donations and grants. "
