Local nonprofit organizations are being warned that federal budget cuts will paint a frighteningly bleak picture for future grants.
OMB Watch, a nonprofit federal budget watchdog based in Washington, D.C, said President Bushs proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2006 was frighteningly bleak for nonprofit groups and the people and causes they serve.
The watchdog group is specifically talking about proposed cuts in domestic discretionary funds, which could be as high as 8.7 percent. In monetary terms, that would mean estimated cuts of $137 billion."
